Jaigarh Fort at a glance
Jaigarh Fort stands on the hill above Amer and the Amber Fort. Jai Singh II had it built in 1726, and it formed part of the defence of Amer. Today it is a walled fort with a museum, a sculpture park and one famous exhibit: the Jaivana cannon. Tourism promotion calls it the largest cannon on wheels. Treat that as a claim, not a measured record.
The fort has its own visitor information and its own ticket. It is not the same site as the Amber Fort, even though the two are linked and many visitors combine them. This guide is independent. It is not run by the fort, a tour operator or any authority. Prices are in Indian rupees (INR), as listed in 2026, and they can change.

Jaigarh Fort hours and ticket prices
What the visitor price list shows in 2026.
Two sets of opening hours are published. The operator lists 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. every day, with last admission at 6:00 p.m. A state tourism listing gives 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Plan to arrive by early afternoon, and check the current timetable before you go.
| Item | Price (2026) | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Adult | INR 200 | Check the current price for foreign visitors before you go |
| Child, 5 to 12 years | INR 100 | Ask at the counter about a price for children under 5 |
| Student with valid ID | INR 100 | โ |
| Video camera with tripod | INR 200 | โ |
| Licensed guide, 1 to 4 people | INR 400 | Fee for the group |
| Licensed guide, 5 to 10 people | INR 500 | Fee for the group |
| Licensed guide, up to 15 people | INR 600 | Fee for the group. If you are exactly 10, confirm the band at the counter |
The ticket covers the fort, the museum, the cannon and the sculpture park. Reductions exist for older visitors and Indian defence personnel, so ask at the counter for the amounts. Wheelchair users and visitors with a visual impairment pay the student rate, and one companion enters free. That does not describe a step-free route, so ask about access on site.

Guided day trips around Amber, Jaipur and the forts, with live prices and availability.
The link between Amber and Jaigarh
The Amber Fort lies below Jaigarh, and an underground passage connects the two. Rajasthan Tourism confirms the connection and says a restored part of it is open to the public. That does not tell you that the whole passage is open every day, or that you can walk it without a Jaigarh ticket. Do not assume your Amber ticket covers Jaigarh. The Jaigarh price list stands on its own.
Ask at the Amber gate where the path starts today and how long the climb takes, and do not plan a tight schedule around it. If you would rather not walk, arrange a taxi or a driver for the climb and agree the return before you set off.

Three forts compared
Amber, Jaigarh and Nahargarh sit on neighbouring ridges, but each has its own ticket and hours.
| Fort | Built | Listed hours | Listed adult price (2026) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amber Fort | Begun in 1592 | 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., check the current timetable | INR 200 Indian, INR 1,000 foreign |
| Jaigarh Fort | 1726 | 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. or 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., check before you go | INR 200 |
| Nahargarh Fort | 1734 | 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. | INR 100 Indian, INR 600 foreign |
The Jaipur composite ticket lists Amer and Nahargarh among its sites. Jaigarh does not appear on that list, so do not count on it being included. Details are on the composite ticket page.
Guides, parking and planning
Practical points for the day.
Licensed guides only
Only guides licensed by the Jaigarh Public Charitable Trust are allowed inside. The fees above are what the fort lists. Do not hire a guide on the road who says otherwise.
Parking
Parking is outside the fort. Ask about the fee when you arrive.
Start with the cannon or finish with it
The Jaivana is the main exhibit, so many visitors head straight there. If you arrive late in the day, see it first and the museum after, in case you run short of time before closing.
Combine it with Amber
Do the Amber Fort first, while the courtyards are quiet, then continue up the hill. The Amber Fort timings page covers the hours below.

Jaigarh Fort: frequently asked questions
What are the Jaigarh Fort opening hours?
The operator lists 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. daily, with last admission at 6:00 p.m. A state tourism listing says 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Check the current timetable before you go, and arrive early enough to be safe under either.
How much is the Jaigarh Fort ticket?
The listed adult ticket is INR 200 in 2026, with INR 100 for children aged 5 to 12 and for students with a valid ID. Check the current price for foreign visitors before you go.
Does my Amber Fort ticket cover Jaigarh?
Do not assume so. Jaigarh has its own price list, and the composite ticket sites do not name it. Ask at the counter before you rely on a combined entry.
What is the Jaivana cannon?
It is the large cannon on display at Jaigarh. Tourism promotion describes it as the largest cannon on wheels. That is a promotional claim, so this guide gives no size or range figures.
Is Jaigarh a UNESCO site?
No. The Hill Forts of Rajasthan listing of 2013 has six parts: Amber, Chittorgarh, Kumbhalgarh, Ranthambore, Gagron and Jaisalmer. Jaigarh and Nahargarh are not among them.
Can I walk from Amber to Jaigarh?
An underground passage links the two, and a restored part is open to the public. Ask at the Amber gate for the current way up and how long it takes.
