Nahargarh Fort at a glance
Nahargarh Fort stands on a ridge of the Aravalli hills above Jaipur. It was built under Jai Singh in 1734 and extended later. Inside is the Madhavendra Bhawan. Rajasthan Tourism describes the view over the city and its lights at night. That is the main reason people go.
It is a separate site from the Amber Fort and from Jaigarh, with its own hours and ticket. This guide is independent and is not run by the fort, a tour operator or any authority. Prices are in Indian rupees (INR) and are the tariffs for 2026. They can change.

Nahargarh Fort hours and ticket prices
Tariffs from 1 January 2026.
The fort is listed as open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Check the current timetable before you go, and do not plan on a night visit.

| Indian adult | INR 100 |
| Foreign adult | INR 600 |
| Indian student | INR 50 |
| Foreign student | INR 300 |

Ask at the counter about a child price. A palace ticket does not give you access to everything around it, such as private museums or cafes, which are separate. Nahargarh also appears on the list of sites for the Jaipur composite ticket. See the composite ticket page before you buy separately.
Nahargarh at sunset: what to plan for
The sunset view needs a plan, because the listed hours end before the sun sets in many months.
The visiting window ends at 5:30 p.m. Look up the sunset time for your date and compare it with the closing time. If the sun sets later, you will be asked to leave before it does. Do not count on being allowed onto the walls or roofs after closing, and do not count on a viewpoint staying open until dark.
The ridge, the palace, any cafe and the access road are separate things. Being on the hill does not mean the palace is open. Decide in advance which one you are going for. If the view matters more than the interior, you may do better to arrive an hour or two before closing and look at the city while the light is good.

Getting up to Nahargarh
The fort is on a hill road above the city. Most visitors take a taxi or a driver, since there is no regular bus to the gate that you can rely on. There is no fixed fare from Amer, no set travel time and no guaranteed pickup for the return. Agree the price, the waiting time and the way back before you set off, and do not plan on finding a car at the top late in the day.
Ask your driver about road closures, parking fees and extra charges at the access points. Stay on the marked ways, and do not assume that a fort ticket lets you hike into the forest around it.
The fort looks over Jaipur, so it fits well with a city day. For the city sights, see the City Palace and the Pink City on our sister site.
