What the show is
The light and sound show is a staged evening performance about the history, the legends and the music of Amber. It is shown with a view of the palace and of Jaigarh Fort on the ridge above. It is a separate event from a daytime visit to the palace.
That difference matters. The show is not proof that the palace rooms are open after dark. If you want to walk through the courtyards and halls, plan that for the day and read the Amber Fort timings. If you want the evening performance, plan it as its own outing.

Show times by season
Published seasonal schedule. Start times move later as the days get longer.
| Season | English | Hindi |
|---|---|---|
| October to February | 6:30 p.m. | 7:30 p.m. |
| March to April | 7:00 p.m. | 8:00 p.m. |
| May to September | 7:30 p.m. | 8:30 p.m. |
Other published schedules show a single pair of times, 7:30 p.m. in English and 8:00 p.m. in Hindi, without any season. A source from April 2026 gives 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. as the window in which the show runs. These do not agree with each other, so treat the table as a guide and confirm the time for your date before you set off.

Tickets and what is not certain
The price below is a listed price, not a final price.
The listed price
A ticketing platform lists the show for 21 to 31 October 2026 at INR 250, running 55 minutes in English and Hindi. The final amount at checkout can differ, for example through a platform fee or different categories. Check the total on the page where you pay.
Credits
The same listing names Gulzar as the writer of the script and Amitabh Bachchan as the narrator. Do not assume that every language version uses the same narrator.
Booking ahead
Check whether seats must be reserved in advance and whether there is a child rate. Check what happens if the show is cancelled for rain or for maintenance. Terms like these are set by the seller and can change.
The palace ticket
The show is not part of the palace entry. The adult palace rates and the combined Jaipur ticket are on the Amber Fort tickets page and the composite ticket page. Do not assume a daytime ticket covers the evening.
Planning your evening
A few practical points.
Amber is about 11 km from central Jaipur. Plan the way back before the show starts, because evening traffic and fewer public buses can make a late return harder. Taxi pickups and returns are not guaranteed at any hour, so agree on the return with your driver in advance. The options are on the getting to Amber Fort page.
From November to February the evenings are cool. The average daily minimum is 14.4 ยฐC in November, 9.9 ยฐC in December and 8.4 ยฐC in January (1991โ2020 averages for Jaipur). Bring a warm layer. From May to September the show starts later, and July and August are the wettest months, with averages of 190.5 and 203.4 mm. For a wider view of the seasons, see the guide to the best time to visit Jaipur.
If you also want the fort in daylight, you can combine both on one trip. Visit the courtyards and the Sheesh Mahal earlier in the day, and come back or stay for the performance.
